Mark V. Barrow Jr.

Mark V. Barrow Jr. is a professor of history in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences at Virginia Tech. He recently received an NEH Research Fellowship to support work on Alligator Tales: The Cultural and Environmental History of Florida’s Iconic Reptile, his ongoing book project, from which material for this article was drawn.
