This two-week residential institute will introduce participants to recent research on many facets of American music and will center storytelling as key activity in higher education classrooms. Scholars from all disciplines who have an interest in American music are welcome to apply. Activities will include seminars with expert scholars, site visits to cultural institutions in Washington D.C., and workshops to develop new course material. There will be three workshop streams where participants will develop practical skills such as constructing new editions of understudied American musics, using new techniques in the digital humanities, and developing curricular materials that center American music.
