On Hallowed Ground: Gettysburg in History & Memory

This workshop will focus on the twin themes of history and memory, and how together they reinforce the perception of Gettysburg as “hallowed ground.” Led by specialists in Civil War history, military history, and war and memory studies, the workshop will approach site visits and presentations as opportunities to ask probing questions about Gettysburg and to consider how interpretations change as new information and perspectives come to light.
