Ilan Stavans

Ilan Stavans is Lewis-Sebring Professor in Latin American and Latino Culture at Amherst College. He is the author of The Hispanic Condition, and, more recently, Gabriel García Márquez: The Early Years. He is general editor of The Norton Anthology of Latino Literature, which is due out in September. Next year the University of Texas Press will release What is la hispanidad?, a volume of his conversations with historian Iván Jaksić.
