Biography
Judith Adkins is a Senior Program Officer in the Division of Research Programs, where she is the team leader for the Collaborative Research program. She holds a Ph.D. in history from Yale University, an M.F.A. in creative writing from George Mason University, and a B.A. in English and history from Duke University. Before coming to the Endowment, she was an archivist at the Center for Legislative Archives at the National Archives for thirteen years. Prior to that, she was an assistant editor for The Papers of Benjamin Franklin, worked in acquisitions at Yale University Press, and taught writing. Her articles and essays concern U.S. social history, women’s and gender history, LGBTQ history, and environment and place.
