Biography
Benjamin Skinner is the Humanities Data Scientist in the Office of Data and Evaluation. Prior to joining NEH, Ben was an assistant professor of higher education and policy at the University of Florida. He has PhD in leadership and policy studies from Vanderbilt University, MA in the humanities from the University of Chicago, and BMus from Vanderbilt. In his research, Ben has used tools of data science such as machine learning and Bayesian statistics to investigate college access, persistence, and civic and economic outcomes due to higher education. He is also the author and maintainer of a number of open-source software packages.
