The University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) is a public research institution with one of the most diverse student bodies in the country. Its College of Architecture, Design, and the Arts (CADA) is home to both the historic Jane Addams Hull House Museum and Gallery 400. The museum celebrates the social reformer Jane Addams. Gallery 400 is a contemporary art gallery and a space for social interaction and multi-dimensional learning for UIC students. The two institutions host innovative exhibits and programs that shed light on numerous topics in the arts, humanities, and social sciences.
CADA will develop a strategic climate action plan that identifies climate risk mitigation and adaptation strategies for the Jane Addams Hull House Museum and Gallery 400. The Action Plan will include an assessment of energy use and climate-related risks, as well as plans for architectural and infrastructural interventions for both institutions. A climate-informed plan will ensure preservation of the historic building and ability of both spaces to serve UIC students and the broader community far into the future.
