WSU professor's app will help visually impaired read 'rich visual content'

A Wichita State University professor has received $150,000 from the National Endowment for the Humanities to further develop his smartphone app.
Dr. Darren DeFrain, a professor of English and director of Wichita State’s Writing Program, and former WSU student Aaron Rodriguez have spent the past five years developing an app to help those with vision issues. The Vizling app is designed to assist those with visual impairments with reading visual-heavy text media like comic books and graphic novels.
