Save America's Treasures grants $25.7M, includes funds for Asheville basilica

The prominent architecture staple, known for having one of the largest freestanding elliptical domes in North America, will receive $750,000 via the Basilica Preservation Fund, Inc., the church's grantee, to focus on repairing tension rings, wall reconstruction and masonry cornice.
According to the release, the project's award of $25,705,000 will be matched by almost $50 million in private and public investment, with funding made possible by NPS partners with the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities and the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
