Nonprofit COVID-19 relief applications due May 15 to Delaware Humanities

(May 1, 2020)

Delaware Humanities is accepting applications through Friday, May 15, for CARES Act Recover Grants to provide relief for humanities-based nonprofit organizations that have been negatively impacted by COVID-19.

Following the recent passing of the CARES Act by Congress, the National Endowment for the Humanities was allocated $75 million to assist cultural institutions affected by the coronavirus. Approximately $30 million was designated for the 56 state and territorial humanities councils. Delaware's share, based on its population, is $406,800.

"Delaware Humanities appreciates the support of Sens. Coons and Carper and Rep. Blunt Rochester in ensuring these funds are available for Delaware cultural organizations in need," said Michele Anstine, Delaware Humanities executive director.

These emergency funds will enable vulnerable humanities-centered organizations to recover some of their losses and better maintain their positions in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic. This includes supporting programming, staffing needs, operating costs and other vital budgetary concerns.
