Hilliard Art Museum Awarded Grant Funding From the National Endowment for the Humanities
The Hilliard Art Museum – University of Louisiana at Lafayette has been awarded grant funding through the National Endowment for the Humanities.
With these funds, the Hilliard Art Museum, working with numerous community partners across Acadiana, will stage the exhibition Acadian Brown Cotton: The Fabric of Acadiana: an in-depth look at the tradition, history, and culture of the Acadian Textile. The exhibition will be on view at the Hilliard Art Museum beginning in the Fall of 2020 and will bring together a wide array of brown cotton textiles and related artifacts, in addition to interactive elements to engage the audience, and facilitate deep and meaningful learning. A schedule of rich programming, including gallery tours and weaving demonstrations, will accompany the exhibition. Meant as a celebration of our community and its rich heritage and culture, Acadian Brown Cotton will demonstrate the importance of family, craft, and keeping tradition alive.
