Guam wins at National History Day

Guam has left its mark at the National History Day contest, as 11 students from the island took home several awards in various categories at the national competition held at the University of Maryland in late June.
“Students Su’anu Duenas, Evan Cepeda, Gleyn Alim and Jieqin Yang, representing Guam’s public and private schools, won outstanding awards at this contest. Su’anu Duenas and Evan Cepeda won an Outstanding Award for their senior group website on the 'Turning Points in History, the 1950 Organic Act of Guam,' while Gleyn Alim won an Outstanding Award for junior individual website on 'Captain Willis Bradley: Father of the Guam Magna Carta.' Gleyn was also a finalist in her category. Jieqin Yang won the E Pluribus Unum in History Award for her senior documentary on the Guam Congress of 1949,” a University of Guam press release said.
