Congressman Cohen Announces National Endowment for the Humanities Granrt Supporting Sports History Research

Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-9) today announced that Aram Goudsouzian, the Bizot Family Professor of History at the University of Memphis, will receive a $60,000 National Endowment for the Humanities grant underwriting research for his new book, The Sports Page: Writers, Athletes and the Challenges of the Sixties. The book will look at how American sports writers and sports culture were affected by the Civil Rights Movement and the rise of televised sports from the 1950s to the 1970s.
