CCU faculty members receive project grant to break stigma of impoverished communities

Coastal Carolina University Department of Sociology faculty members have been awarded a $4,500 grant by the South Carolina Humanities to support their project, "The Community Change Initiative Breaking Barriers Project -- Education, Engagement, and Advocacy."

Stephanie Southworth, Ph.D., Assistant Professor and Sara Brallier, Ph.D., professor will use the funding to support the creation of pictorial and written exhibits to focus on the day-to-day lives of impoverished populations to address the stigma associated with homelessness.
