Developments in digital technology afford exciting new possibilities for conducting analysis and conveying arguments in a multimedia form about multimedia objects of study through works commonly known as ‘videographic essays.’ Professors Christian Keathley and Jason Mittell will lead a pair of two-week workshops at Middlebury College in Vermont from June 18 – July 1, 2017 and June 17 – 30, 2018, where participants will learn how to conceive and produce film & media criticism via digital sound and moving images. The 2017 workshop will only be for currently-enrolled graduate students, and the 2018 workshop will only be for scholars holding a Ph.D.
