Updates about ODH’s Digital Humanities Advancement Grants

We look forward to posting an updated Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for the DHAG program this fall. In the meantime, we are sharing some quick updates here so that you can start planning your application.  

We have spent some time this year analyzing the responses to an open Call for Comments and speaking to some of you in a series of small group conversations about the DHAG program. We’ve used much of this feedback in making a few changes. 

The key things you need to know are to:  

• Look for deadlines in January and May of 2025 rather than in January and June.   
• Be prepared to make a strong case for how your project responds to DHAG’s call for work that is experimental and innovative. We have been trying hard to help applicants find the best fit for their projects (please see here for applicant resources) and to ensure that DHAG remains a home for more experimental types of projects that cannot be funded elsewhere at NEH.   
• Start considering how you might not just manage but also share the data your project will generate. This is in alignment with NEH's forthcoming policy to expand public access to our award outputs (see here for more).  

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT DRAFTS: If you are planning a January 2025 application and would like to submit a draft for ODH staff feedback, our anticipated draft deadline is Wednesday, November 13, 2024.
