National Council on the Humanities

NEH's chair is advised by the National Council on the Humanities, a board of twenty-six distinguished private citizens appointed by the president and confirmed by the Senate. The National Council members serve staggered six-year terms.

*Council members with expired terms continue to serve until their replacement has been confirmed by the Senate and sworn in at the following council meeting.
